Alaskan Highlights Alaska is an adventurer's dream. Sweeping scenic views, vast wilderness lands, glaciers, and wildlife offer the visitor an experience unparalleled anywhere. From lush rainforests and abundant wildlife, to the snow capped peaks and majestic glaciers, Alaska is a true wilderness adventure.
Departing Anchorage, we round Cook Inlet's Turnagain Arm and venture on to the Kenai peninsula. Outdoor activities abound in Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park. Hike in the high-country of the Harding Icefields, or enjoy a spectacular cruise through Resurrection Bay and Aialik Fjord with views of local marine life, migrating birds, and tidewater glaciers along this remote wilderness coast. Perhaps even try your hand fishing the icy blue waters.
After leaving the Kenai peninsula, we ride the Alaska Marine Highway ferry through Prince William Sound to Valdez. Sit back and relax as we glide past the rugged coastline along the snow-capped Chugach Mountains that rise from the sea here, past icebergs released by the immense Columbia Glacier, and the myriad of forested islands that dot our way to Valdez.
The towering mountains that surround this fjord offer stunning views and what better way to experience this beauty than with an optional sea kayaking trip. A variety of hiking trails make this area a walker's paradise. The Alaska pipeline that spans over 800 miles to the coast of the Arctic Ocean offers guided tours of its southern terminus here as well.
Next, we follow the most beautiful drive in Alaska, climbing Thompson Pass and past Wrangell Saint Elias Nat'l Park. As we travel the old Denali Highway, keep an eye open for caribou and other wildlife while enjoying the peaceful, unspoilt wilderness en route to our three night stay at Denali National Park! Surrounding Mt. McKinley, the tallest peak in North America, Denali offers a vast refuge for a variety of wildlife. Wolves, caribou, and Dall sheep call Denali home, as well as the mighty Grizzly bear.
Two included scenic bus tours take you through the pristine backcountry of the park, offering excellent opportunities to see these majestic animals in their natural habitat and the incredible views this unique landscape of tundra and taiga presents. A wide range of optional activities is available such as river rafting, scenic flights, dogsled demonstrations, and hiking options for all fitness and adventure levels. Leaving these highlights behind, but keeping memories you will long remember, our adventure comes to an end as we return to Anchorage.
