Winter trekking in the desert national parks of the South West and Grand Canyon
The desert parks of Arizona and California have long been regarded as a prime winter get-away. The stunning, ever changing scenery, combined with dry, sunny, warm days offer perfect trekking conditions. On our journey we will trek in well-known national parks such as Death Valley and Grand Canyon, as well as lesser known jewels such as Saguaro, Chiricahua and Joshua Tree. Several other hidden parks known only to locals, along with the attraction of trekking in an area teeming with Wild West history, make this a very varied journey. In Lost Dutchman we will trek through cholla cacti forests below towering cliffs, in Saguaro we explore dense forests of giant cacti and at the Grand Canyon we hike into the depth of the Canyon. Death Valley is a favourite among many and due to the heat only accessible to hikers in the winter months - we explore the slot canyons and sand dunes of this famous park. To round off the programme we have time in Las Vegas, Palm Springs and the city of angels – Los Angeles.

On some trips it is not possible to guarantee single accommodation for the whole tour; where this is the case further information and prices can be found in the Trip Notes. If you would like a single room or tent on a particular holiday you should contact the office for details. Where we are unable to guarantee single accommodation you may be able to arrange and pay for it locally. If you are a smoker we ask you not to smoke in your room or tent if sharing. Please note on certain trips single accommodation is not available due to local operational conditions.
