BERMUDA IN A NUTSHELL
Bermuda is made up of 181 islands and islets stretching just 22 miles long, 2 miles wide in the Atlantic. Whilst it is not in the Caribbean, it is warmed by the Gulf Stream with a year-round semi-tropical climate. Bermuda is Britain's oldest colony with a friendly charm and sophisticated hospitality – the epitome of casual elegance. Visit in spring, summer and autumn for lazy days on one of the many glorious pink sandy beaches in warm sunshine. Prices come down considerably in the winter months when the mild temperatures make the perfect climate for golfing, walking and exploring the many places of interest. Scuba-diving on the many wrecks is excellent year-round.
CARIBTOURS' PERSONAL VIEW
The whole team has spent time in Bermuda and we each have different memories. Catherine was especially taken by the charm of the original capital, St George's, now a UN World Heritage Site. We have all enjoyed exploring the island, some on scooters and some on the excellent bus and ferry system.
DID YOU KNOW...?
Bermuda was known by sailors as the "isle of the devils" because so many ships were wrecked on the reefs. You are never more than a mile from the sea in Bermuda – the main seven islands are connected by bridges and causeways.
This luxury hideaway is more of a country house surrounded by the ocean than simply a resort.
Gracious service in tasteful surroundings with excellent cuisine are the hallmarks of Cambridge Beaches; the main house dates back 200 years and, dotted throughout the 25 acres of private grounds, each room, suite and cottage is individually styled.
The new Cambridge Suites have a more contemporary feel and are especially recommended.
