Classic Kenya Safari A stylish Kenyan safari amidst the most abundant wildlife and stunning scenery in Africa
Kenya is home to an astonishing array of wildlife and landscapes and is a gameviewer's paradise. This short trip incorporates the glittering lakes of the Rift Valley and the rolling savannah of the prolific Masai Mara - made famous by the incredible yearly migration of millions of wildebeeste and zebras. Kenya’s birdlife is also amazingly rich, with four hundred species at the Rift Valley Lakes alone, and the rosy-pink view over the flamingo population on Lake Nakuru is particularly spectacular. We stay in only two bases to minimise travel and maximise gameviewing. Our lodge at Elementaita is an ideal place to relax after an overnight flight and to explore Lake Nakuru National Park, the best small park in East Africa with its prolific rhino population. The Masai Mara fulfils all expectations of rolling savannah, steep escarpments and prolific game.

Friends of Conservation Kenya Project
There are four projects that Friends of Conservation currently support in the Masai Mara area. We will be supporting the project at Aitong, which is about 30 minutes from where we camp on this holiday. At the request of the local people, a tree nursery has been established and there are plans to help fund a building project at the local school. Your support of this project will help develop the tree nursery to aid the reforestation of local area, as well as improve the standards at the school.

Visit the FOC's website for more information or to make a donation to this project.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on the scheduled services of Kenyan Airways for the overnight flight to Nairobi.
Day 2
We arrive early in the morning. Those booking land-only arrangements meet the group at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. We leave Nairobi and drive north along the edge of the Rift Valley to Lake Elementaita. There will be stops along the way to admire the spectacular views. Lunch is taken at the lodge and the afternoon is free to relax or join an optional walking tour. Lake Elementaita has plenty of plains game, a superb population of birds and a magnificent lake frequented by flamingoes. It is not arduous walking and a great deal can be learnt by being out on foot in a game area.
Day 3
A very early start for the 30 minute drive to Nakuru for a full day's game drive. Lake Nakuru is not only home to literally millions of flamingoes but also a very healthy population of predators. This is one of the few places that you are more likely than not to see leopard, and the large numbers of buffalo sustain a healthy population of lions. However, it is the rhino that make the park so special. The 245sq km of Nakuru form the one success story for these endangered animals in East Africa, and it is not uncommon to see both black and white rhino in one game drive. A picnic lunch is taken into the park and there is time to relax by the pool of Lake Nakuru Lodge. After a late afternoon game drive we return to Elementaita Lodge.
Day 4
After breakfast there is quite a long drive to the Masai Mara, arriving in time for a late lunch. The game here is superb, there is abundant birdlife and a dramatic landscape of plains with acacia trees and huge escarpments. But the Masai Mara is more - it is about visiting Maasai manyattas, game walking and sensational sunsets; an experience to be treasured.
Day 5
As above
Day 6
As above
Day 7
A final game drive or walk before a big breakfast fortifies you for the long journey back to Nairobi. We depart Nairobi around midnight for the overnight flight to London. Land only clients end the trip on arrival in Nairobi.
Day 8
Arrive London Heathrow in the early morning.
