One of the worlds greatest treks; unrivalled high mountain scenery and breathtaking views of K2
Concordia has possibly the most spectacular of all mountain vistas. Simply the confluence of the Baltoro and Godwin Austen glaciers, it is an extraordinary place, dominated by K2, the world's second highest mountain. Gasherbrum 4, Broad Peak, Mitre Peak and Chogolisa form the rest of an astounding circle of mountain giants which has been called 'the throne room of the Gods'. There is time to explore here, with possible side trips to K2 or Broad Peak base camps, or for the less energetic, time just to relax and enjoy the panoramas. This classic among trekking routes is exceptionally wild and remote, but provides the mountain connoisseur with scenery of unmatched grandeur. The 17 July departure coincides with 50th anniversary of the first ascent of K2 by Italian climber Achille Campagnoni.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice changed in January and is now no longer warning against all travel to Pakistan. However, we will be monitoring events closely so that we can operate the treks in the safest way possible. As a company we have 30 years of experience in the country and many friends and contacts on the ground and we will use this network to receive regular updates over the next few months. If at any point we believe that there is a serious threat to the safety of our clients, or if the FCO return to advising against travel, we will obviously cancel the treks. However, we do hope that after a 3 year gap and on the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of K2, we will be able to return to one of the world's greatest trekking regions.
We recommend anyone interested in joining this classic trek to check the FCO advice on www.fco.gov.uk.
