It would be a hard task to list Kenya’s attractions in order of merit. The country’s appeal lies in its unique combination of wildlife sanctuaries; glorious beaches, breathtaking scenery; agreeable climate and good accommodation all jumbled together by a hospitable and friendly people. There is hardly anywhere else on earth that offers such a variety of attractions.
This 8 days safari takes you to some of the most diverse and interesting areas in Kenya. On this safari you will see fertile highlands, snow-capped Mount Kenya, the rugged north , Meru - the most beautiful park in East Africa and yet one of the least exploited and most unpopulated areas of Kenya. Lewa, situated dramatically between Mount Kenya and the magnificent Northern Frontier District, is an extremely beautiful area and offers superb wildlife. Last but not least the famous Masai Mara. All in luxury accommodation located in the best parts of the national parks you are about to visit. |
Day 1 | Depart UK | Day 2 | On arrival at Nairobi, you will be met your guide and transferred to The Norfolk Hotel. Afternoon visit to the famous Karen Blixen Musem and the Giraffe Center in Karen/Langata. Lovingly cared for by the National Museums of Kenya, Karen Blixen’s home is one of a number of highly interesting museums, archaeological and prehistoric sites to be found throughout Kenya. Dinner and overnight at The Norfolk Hotel. | Day 3 | After breakfast transfer to Wilson airport for your domestic flight to Meru. You will be met and transferred to Elsa’s Kopje Luxury Camp. Meru is home to the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and other savannah game. Afternoon is spent game viewing. . Elsa’s Kopje in Meru offers many activities to visitors, including day and night game drives in 4x4 WD vehicles; escorted bush walks; and incredible bird watching. So choose your activities for the day/night. Dinner and overnight at Elsa’s Kopje. | Day 4 | After breakfast go for a game drive in the park. Elsa’s Kopje in Meru offers many activities to visitors, including day and night game drives in 4x4 WD vehicles; escorted bush walks; and incredible bird watching. So choose your activities for the day/night.Those interested in experiencing the bush at night have the opportunity in Meru, as it is one of the few places in Kenya offering night game viewing. Night Game Drives is a special drive. Nocturnal animals such as aardvark, porcupine, silver backed hyena and leopard can be seen. One can go at either 1900hr - 2100hr or after dinner 2100hr - 2200hr. Overnight at Elsa’s Kopje. | Day 5 | After breakfast commence your safari with a drive south to Lewa Downs Sanctuary. During your transfer you will see breathtaking views of the surrounding country. Arrive at Lewa Downs Wilderness Trail at lunchtime. After a few hours of relaxation, spend the rest of the afternoon game viewing. The area around is home to the rare and beautiful species of Northern Kenya such as Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk gazelle and the Somali ostrich. Elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and the more common savannah game are also abundant here. Sitatunga aquatic antelope are extremely rare in Kenya, but can be found in Lewa. Dinner and overnight at Lewa Downs Wilderness Trail. | Day 6 | This day is spent in Lewa Downs Sanctuary with morning and afternoon game viewing. You can choose whenever you would like to go on the following activities offered; The conservancy offers many activities to visitors, including day and night game drives in 4x4 WD vehicles; escorted bush walks; horse riding; game watching up close from secluded game blinds; day and overnight camel safaris; incredible bird watching; educational talks on the conservancy and related issues; visits to the Il N’gwesi Maasai cultural boma; walking safaris; cultural visits with local communities and swimming, tennis and jogging for the active.
All meals at the house. Overnight at Lewa Downs Wilderness Trail. | Day 7 | Early breakfast and transfer to Nanuyki airstrip for your flight to the Masai Mara. Today’s flight takes you through The Great Rift Valley, the longest rift in the crust of the earth, to the Masai Mara. You will spend two full days in this natural paradise among zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. You will encounter prides of lion resting in the shade of acacia trees or lying low in the tall grass, in wait for their next meal. There is a good chance of spotting cheetah and if you are lucky, a as well as the shy leopard. Take lunch, dinner and stay overnight at Mara Explorer Luxury Tented camp. | Day 8 | We go game watching before and after breakfast and again in the afternoon, with lunch and a siesta at the lodge. In the evening, it is time for a well-deserved shower and a refreshing drink before dinner. The camp, situated on the Mara Savannah offers a fantastic view of the Mara plains and you can easily observe the herds of game on the plains in front of you. All meals at the camp. Overnight at Mara Explorer Luxury Tented camp. | Day 9 | Leave the camp after breakfast and fly back to Nairobi arriving in the early afternoon to connect with your flight back to the UK. | Day 10 | Arrive UK. |
