Dolomites Activites: Abseiling - Canyoning - Hydrospeeding - Mountain Biking - Olympic Bob Sled - Rock Climbing - Tyrolean Traverse - Via Ferrata - Optional: Rafting
How it works: This adrenalin-fuelled week is centred on the chic Italian ski resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo in the magnificent Dolomites. We team up with Alpine Guides and instructors for a go at the usual suspects, rock climbing, abseiling and mountain biking and hit the whitewater for canyoning and hydrospeeding (whitewater descent with life jacket, helmet and floatation device). We also get stuck into more off the wall pursuits such as a Tyrolean Traverse (crossing a rope strung between two rocky pinnacles), Via Ferrata (cable assisted climbing on the famous limestone faces of the Dolomites) and an insane descent of the 1956 Olympic Bob Sled run on a wheeled bob 0-110 kph in 4 seconds.
Skill level: no previous experience required but good physical fitness plus a steady nerve and a head for heights are a must - there will be exposed sections on the Via Ferrata and Tyrolean Traverse.
Accommodation is 7 nights comfortable 3 star hotel. Included are all breakfasts, 5 lunches and 5 dinners. |
Day 1 | Depart UK. | Day 2 | Start Cortina.
| Day 3 | Via Ferrata up the Punta de Fiames (2240m) - equipped with helmet, harness and safety lines.
| Day 4 | Mountain biking round the base of Tofana mountain, an hour of uphill and plenty of downhill. Head to bob-sleigh track in the afternoon for taxi-bob.
| Day 5 | Paradise Canyon; abseil, jump and swim our way down. All jumps are optional, the maximum height is 5.5 metres.
| Day 6 | Relax by the pool or half-day optional rafting on the exciting Isarco with grade III/IV rapids.
| Day 7 | Hydrospeed on the Riena river, with grade III rapids.
| Day 8 | Rock climb, Tyrolean Traverse and a 40 metre abseil at the Guglia de Amicis.
| Day 9 | End Cortina.
| Day 10 | Arrive UK. |
