The smallest country in South America is bang in the middle of the world, with one foot on either side of the Equatorial line. Ecuador is a melting pot where ancient pre-colonial cultures, Hispanic, Afro-American, and Amazon ethnic groups come together to produce a vibrant culture evident at the amazingly colourful village markets throughout the country.
Its biggest claim to fame is the Galapagos islands, world renown for their bio-diversity and animal population. Charles Darwin explored the islands in 1835 and was capitivated by the landscape and unique species he encountered. Today the animals still have little fear of humans, making these islands perfect for nature lovers.
This tour allows those without much time to visit one of the earths most unique places. There is also time to explore Quito, Ecuador's capital and one of the oldest cities in South America.
It is possible to add a 5 day extension to this tour that takes you down the Avenue of the Volcanoes to Cotopaxi and into the Amazon Rainforest. Please enquire for details.
