ST KITTS & NEVIS IN A NUTSHELL
Two very distinct islands, part of one federation, St Kitts & Nevis are refreshingly uncommercialised and have been careful to develop their hotels and other tourist attractions to reflect and blend in with the local architecture, culture and history. Both islands are dominated by rugged volcanic peaks and rain forests and each has a unique cultural heritage. Both islands, Nevis especially, remain staunchly off the tourist track, which of course is part of their unique appeal. Catherine, our MD, has lived in Nevis and adds, "There's sleepy island life and then there's Nevis! The charm of the Nevisian people will stay with me forever, as will the heady scents and sounds of the Saturday morning market in Charlestown. Sarah and Fiona both recommend a two-centre holiday – a stay in one of the plantation houses followed by a beach hotel in Nevis. Sarah especially enjoyed Marty's guided walk through the rainforest right next to Ottley's and Fiona was charmed by Nevis's sleepy villages and the market or try the St Kitts Scenic Railway Tour.

Over 200 heritage sites are documented on St Kitts alone, of which Brimstone Hill is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nevis was the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, one of the United Nations' Founding Fathers – it's also the place where Admiral Horatio Nelson married Fanny Nisbet.
