Iceland Walking Explorer Discover Icelands scenic highlights on foot
Iceland is the most active volcanic region in the world. Sitting astride a major fault in the earth's crust, its dramatic landscape and unique geology is the product of a violent interplay of conflicting elements - ice and fire. On this full-circuit itinerary we base ourselves in four of the best walking areas in the country, each a demonstration of Iceland's unique landscapes. We start in Skaftafell N.P., where glacial tongues from the huge Vatnajokull icecap almost reach the sea. Then there are also the mountains of the eastern Fjords and the stunning Lake Myvatn area, where we find pseudo craters, lavafields and plentiful hotsprings. Finally, we move to Kerlingarfjoll Volcano in the central highlands, within sight of the massive Hofsjokull icecap. As this is a camping trip the itinerary remains flexible, allowing us to work with Iceland's variable weather.

Group & Staff:
Min. 8, max. 16, plus leader.
