This holiday starts in the Mpumalanga region, one of the most beautiful and scenic drives in South Africa and known as the Panoramic Route. You will enjoy views of vast landscapes, and have the chance of getting to know the African Savannah. The roads are in excellent conditon, although you’ll have to travel on dirt roads occasionally. There is 2 days of game-viewing in the Kruger National Park, one of the most famous reserves in Africa and home to the Big 5: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. |
Day 1 | Depart the UK on scheduled flights in the late afternoon/evening. | Day 2 | Upon arrival you are met and pick up your car. Todays drive takes you to Dullstroom, about 2 hours from the airport. This affords you a day of relaxation to recover fron the flight, unless you wish to drive via Pretoria to see the Voortrekker Monument and the Union Buildings. You’ll find Dullstroom to be a charming little town in the middle of the mining area, surrounded in sprawling farms, trout rivers and dams and has a distinctly Scottish flavour. Only 2 hours from Johannesburg airport en route to the Kruger National Park. | Day 3 | You take Two days to explore the breathtaking landscape of the so-called Panoramic route. The route leads you from Sabie to the Mac Mac Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in South Africa. From here, continue onto Graskop and see the Lisbon and Berlin waterfalls. End the day after passing the Pinnacle Rock at God’s Window, one of the most impressive sights in South Africa, and then spend the night in Hazyview. | Day 4 | An early start to head for the Eco Caves, which have impressive ancient stalactites and stalagmites. Continue on to the Blyde River Canyon, a majestically massive red sandstone gorge. Your journey continues on to Bourke’s Luck Potholes where the strong current has scoured cylindrical holes through the cliffs. Then drive through the lovely landscape towards Graskop and on to Hazyview. | Day 5 | Spend the next couple of days in or around the Kruger National Park area, staying at one of the Camps of the Kruger National Park. The Kruger is home to a huge number of animals, including the Big Five: Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Leopard and Buffalo. | Day 6 | Kruger National Park. | Day 7 | On the last day you take to the road once more for the drive back to Johannesburg in time for your evening flight back to the UK. | Day 8 | Arrive UK in the morning. |
