BAHAMAS IN A NUTSHELL
The Islands of the Bahamas consist of some 700 islands and thousands of cays spanning some 750 miles. It's no secret that the development on Paradise Island (a short toll bridge drive away from Nassau) has been phenomenal but the results are spectacular – whether you want the glitz and glamour of a world-class resort, casinos and restaurants, or simply to escape to a sophisticated resort with great beaches. For a total contrast, visit one of the sleepy Out Islands for a memorable day trip or a longer stay – Harbour Island, pictured below, is a delight.
CARIBTOURS' PERSONAL VIEW
Catherine recommends a boat excursion to Blue Lagoon Island (also known as Salt Cay) for a memorable swim with the dolphins; for those staying on Grand Bahama, the Unexso centre for diving and snorkelling with dolphins has an exceptional reputation. We are all in agreement that the Caribbean's best conch (pronounced ‘conk’) salad can be enjoyed in The Bahamas!
DID YOU KNOW...?
Did you know....? The population ratio of pink flamingos to people on the Out Island of Great Inagua is 61:1. Cascarilla bark is grown in the Out Islands and is used to flavour Campari and Vermouth.
This beachfront resort and marina is new to Caribtours for 2004 and we have selected it particularly for those of our clients who are keen fishermen – either bonefish on the fly or deep sea fishing – and for scuba-divers seeking a luxurious base from which to do little more than enjoy their favourite sport and some fine dining.
Families too will enjoy the beachfront location, snorkelling trails and the close proximity of the Unexso Centre where diving and swimming with dolphins is a key attraction.
Fiona stayed there recently and was especially impressed by the excellent General Manager, Michel Neutelings.

The resort will be pleased to arrange fishing charters – either fishing on the flats of nearby Little Bahama Bank for bonefish, permit and snook or deep sea fishing for marlin, tuna, wahoo and dolphinfish.
This is really a resort for doing very little at all but guests may visit the casinos, golf courses and shops of Freeport and Lucaya, 45 minutes away.
