TURKS & CAICOS IN A NUTSHELL
Surrounded by one of the world's longest coral reefs, this little known but increasingly popular British Crown Colony is ideal for those seeking a quiet relaxing holiday. There are eight main islands and hundreds of uninhabited cays – Providenciales is home to our selected resorts and is in the west of the Caicos group. Known as Provo, it is blessed with a high standard of accommodation and beautiful, mostly deserted beaches – our hotels are located on Grace Bay, regularly voted one of the world's finest beaches.
CARIBTOURS' PERSONAL VIEW
Catherine, our MD, has been twice now and, amongst others, has one very strong memory: "I have been consistently impressed by the diving, not least my own magical encounter with the resident dolphin, JoJo, and am also pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the golf course."
DID YOU KNOW...?
The name "Turks" is derived from the indigenous Turk's Head "fez" cactus and the name "Caicos" is a Lucayan terms meaning "string of islands." The national music is known as Ripsaw or "rake 'n' scrape" – a metal scraper is raked over the teeth of a handsaw as the blade is bent at the same time!
From the moment you arrive by sleek motor launch and are whisked away to the delightful reception area and on to your room or villa, you will feel as if you have entered another world.
The understated luxury, lack of ostentation and the attentive but discreet service make Parrot Cay one of the Caribbean’s most desirable hideaways.
Justifiably renowned for its fine dining, under the direction of Claudia Dunlop, and the Eastern-inspired Shambhala Spa, Parrot Cay remains a favourite amongst our clients.
