Slovenia Julian Alps Traverse A high-level traverse of the stunning Julian Alps, including an ascent of Mount Triglav (2864m), Slovenias highest peak
Little known outside Slovenia, the Julian Alps are the unsung mountains of Europe. A small but growing band of enthusiasts are learning about the wonders of trekking in this particularly spectacular range. Our first and last nights are spent in the pretty lakeside town of Bled, but our trek begins at Bohinj, a stunning glacial lake in the heart of the Triglav National Park. As we follow the mountain trails, through and above the tree-line, we are amongst steep-sided limestone peaks and spires, the tallest of which we aim to climb. The optional ascent of Triglav involves some easy, but exposed scrambling with cables for protection (harnesses and helmets are provided); the rest of the trekking is strenuous, but non-technical. This traverse is hut-to-hut and we will need carry only our personal gear for the five days, as the mountain huts are fully catered.

Trip Profile:
1 warm-up walk, 5 days hut-to-hut backpacking; altitude maximum 2864m, average 2000m. Grade C (optional climb D).

Group & Staff:
Min. 6, max. 16, plus guide/s.

Accommodation:
3 nights hotel in Bled, 4 nights in manned mountain huts.

Food:
All breakfasts and 5 dinners included.

Where we are unable to guarantee single accommodation you may be able to arrange and pay for it locally. If you are a smoker we ask you not to smoke in your room or tent if sharing. Please note on certain trips single accommodation is not available due to local operational conditions.
