Tanzania in Luxury An overview of Tanzania, taking in the main Parks and Reserves while enjoying a combination of permanent tented camps and lodges. These are of a 5* standard, the best available.
Tanzania has some of the best wildlife areas in Africa- no less than 25% of this vast country is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife - and names like Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara bring forth images of savannah abounding in wildlife. It is East Africa’s largest country.

Nowhere else in the world will you see wildebeest, gazelle, zebra and antelope in such enormous numbers and Tanzania’s characteristic plains make spotting wildlife easy. Blessed with some of the world’s largest game reserves, the country also has one of the highest concentrations of buffalo, crocodile, hippo, hunting dog, chimpanzee and elephant.
The coastal strip along the Indian Ocean and the offshore islands of Pemba, Zanzibar and Mfia have a hot, humid, tropical climate alleviated by sea breezes, the perfect place to relax at the end of your unforgetable safari.

Day 1
Depart UK.
Day 2
Early-morning transfer from Nairobi by shuttle bus, arriving in Arusha for lunch, before leaving for Tarangire National Park. This is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephant. After arrival we game drive towards Swala Camp nestled into an acacia forest stand barely visible from the road, arriving at dusk for sundowners. Dinner and overnight at Swala Camp.
Day 3
A full day of game-viewing, exploring Tarangire National Park in our 4WD safari vehicle. In the dry-season of July-October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeti in terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the permanent water of Tarangire River. It is not uncommon to see herds of 50+ elephant as well as every other mammal species including the rare Kudu and Oryx. The park is also noted for its prolific bird life and the occasional sighting of cheetah and the rare African Hunting Dog. We will return to the Lodge for brunch, relaxing at the camp during the hottest hours of the day, before setting out again in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight at Swala Camp.
Day 4
After breakfast we leave Tarangire, crossing the Great African Rift Valley to climb the Rift Escarpment from where we enjoy sweeping vistas across Lake Manyara. Continuing our journey through the coffee plantations of Karatu and the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Highlands, we arrive at our lodge in Ngorogoro for lunch. We then descend down the 2000-ft walls of the Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals, for a game drive. Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. We return to the Lodge just before dusk. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, perched on the Crater Rim.
Day 5
Early morning breakfast and an early departure might give us the crater to ourselves for an hour. Descending down the 2000-ft walls of the Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals, we will spend the whole day exploring the many habitats of this Natural Amphitheatre. Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. We return to the Lodge just before dusk. Picnic lunch in the Crater. Arrive at Lodge just before dusk. Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
Day 6
Depart for Serengeti after breakfast. We stop at Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where Mary and Louis Leakey first discovered the remains of Zinjanthropus Bosei, a distant ancestor of man believed to be 1.8 million years old, Australopithecus Bosei, the 'Nutcracker Man', a species that became extinct about 1 million years ago and fossilised foot prints that date back 3,6 million years. From here the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti unfurl before us as we game drive through the park for the remainder of the day to arrive at Kusini Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
A full day to explore the Serengeti, the most famous National Park in Africa. Our driver-guide will choose our route based on his extensive knowledge of the park and local conditions but the Serengeti rarely disappoints. We carry our packed lunch with us so as to make the most of the day, but our trip might include tracking cheetah through the Gol Kopjes, hunting leopard along the Seronera River, avoiding the crocs and hippos at Retima or exploring the Masai paintings at Moru Kopjes. Dinner and Overnight at Kusini Camp.
Day 8
Return to Arusha by Regional Air. Lunch in Arusha before departing on the Shuttle bus to Nairobi. Check in at the Mayfair Court Hotel on bed & breakfast basis.
Day 9
After breakfast transfer to airport for your departure flight.
Day 10
Arrive in the UK

Swala CampSwala Camp
With the Tarangire River as its centerpiece, Tanzania's Tarangire National Park is famous as a home for some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa, as well as over 300 species of breeding birds.
Swala Camp lies sheltered under majestic acacia trees, and its savannah-setting truly captures the classic image of Africa. Situated well away from the well-traveled tourist routes, its name, in Swahili, means "impala", only one of the many gazelles seen daily around its tents, the rarer lesser and greater kudu are also resident nearby. Recently, the only regular wild dog sightings on the country's northern circuit occurred at Swala. These species, combined with the "standard" trio of big cats (lion, cheetah and leopard), large buffalo herds, giraffe and other plains residents make for spectacular game-viewing in a very private area of this wondrous park.

Kusini CampKusini Camp
Kusini is set in the south-central area of the Serengeti, among an impressive "archipelago" of the distinctive rock outcroppings known as kopjes. Neighboring habitats range from short grass plains traversed by huge herds of zebra and gazelle, to the central valleys hunted by lion and cheetah. While game viewing here is always impressive, the camp's privileged and removed location becomes even more apparent during Tanzania's fabled wildebeest migration. Directly in its path, your close, private point of view further enhances the drama of this once-in-a-lifetime natural spectacle. more >>
