The Tien Shan A trek to the Inilchek Glacier in the heart of the Tien Shan
The magnificent pyramidal peak of Khan Tengri (6995m) lies at the eastern end of the Central Tien Shan near the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakstan and China. The setting is incomparable: across the Inilchek Glacier lies the mighty Peak Pobeda (7439m), the highest mountain in this natural amphitheatre. We reach the Inilchek glacier by trekking through verdant alpine valleys, past rushing mountain streams and high summer pastures, home to the Kyrgyz nomads in their traditional yurts. Crossing the Tyuz Pass, the landscape changes dramatically to a stunning vista of snow-covered peaks, ice and rock, with views of Nansen Peak (5697m) ahead and the huge glacier stretching far to the east. We reach the grassy Marzbacher glade and, perched above the glacier, enjoy the excellent panoramas of this magnificent, little-known landscape .

On some trips it is not possible to do so, we offer an optional single supplement in the price list. On some trips it is not possible to guarantee single accommodation for the whole tour; where this is the case further information and prices can be found in the Trip Notes. If you would like a single room or tent on a particular holiday you should contact the office for details. Where we are unable to guarantee single accommodation you may be able to arrange and pay for it locally. If you are a smoker we ask you not to smoke in your room or tent if sharing. Please note on certain trips single accommodation is not available due to local operational conditions.
