Day 1 | BUDAPEST Arrive in Budapest and check in to hotel. Time to relax or explore.

Day 2 | BUDAPEST - EGER We take the morning train to Eger and have the rest of the day free to explore the beautiful villages and vineyards of the region or the city of Eger itself, with its beautiful Baroque architecture. (B)

Day 3 | DEBRECEN A short train ride takes us to Debrecen, the 19th Century capital of Hungary with an impressive city centre. Debrecen is also famous for its sausages and there will be the opportunity to try these in the evening. (B)

Day 4 | SATU MARE We continue by train over the border to Satu Mare in Romania. This town has a rich history and the sumptuous local architecture of the town is testament to this. The afternoon is free to explore the city. (B)

Day 5 | MARAMURES We have a full free day to explore the picturesque mountain region of Maramures, famous for its rich local traditions and the numerous wooden churches built in traditional style. This remote area offers a wonderful insight into life as it continues in rural Romania. (B)

Day 6 | BUKOVINA Travelling through stunning countryside of densely wooded mountains, we continue to Vatra Dornei, our base for visiting Bukovina. (B)

Day 7 | BUKOVINA A full day to visit the painted monasteries of Bukovina, considered some of the greatest artistic monuments of Europe, and still dazzling after almost 500 years. Granted UNESCO World Heritage status these monasteries are little known outside Romania and yet are breathtaking in their beauty. (B)

Day 8 | SIGHISOARA Continue to Sighisoara in the heart of Transylvania. On the way we stop to visit the famous Bicaz Gorges with steep 300m high walls. (B)

Day 9 | BRASOV A morning to wander around the historic heart of Sighisoara before we take a short train trip to Brasov. (B)

Day 10 | BRASOV Today there is the opportunity to take a trip to the infamous Bran castle (that allegedly belonged to Count Dracula), or the stunning Peles Castle built for Romania's first king - Carol I. (B)

Day 11 | BUCHAREST A morning to explore the lovely town square and baroque buildings of Brasov. Then in the afternoon we travel by train to Bucharest. (B)

Day 12 | BUCHAREST - BUDAPEST A full day to explore Romania's fascinating capital city before boarding the overnight train to Budapest. (B)

Day 13 | BUDAPEST A day to explore the many museums and galleries or relax in the bath houses of this beautiful city.
|
Day 14 | BUDAPEST Today you can further explore the city or take a boat trip from Budapest to visit some of the famous small towns on the 'Danube Bend'. (B)

Day 15 | BUDAPEST Tour ends. (B)
