Jordan has long been overlooked as a mainstream holiday destination. It's sites and attractions speak for themselves and when this is combined with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere word is spreading that this is a country well worth a visit. It is for cultural activities that Jordan excels, containing archaeological ruins from many of the great civilisations of the Near East. The most famous is Petra, the rose city with many of its buildings carved from the red rock.
This trip provides a good mix of activity and is a real Arabian travel adventure. After a tour in Amman you banquet in a castle, swim in the Dead Sea, visit Petra and Wadi Rum and finally enjoy watersports at Aqaba. |
Day 1 | Depart on your flight from the UK. Upon arrival at the Queen Alia International Airport Amman you will be met and assisted through immigration and customs, and then escorted to your hotel for dinner and overnight. | Day 2 | Visit the impressive Greco-Roman city of Jerash, then continue to the medieval Arab castle at Ajloun for a banquet that brings back the days of Arabian nights. Return to Amman in the late afternoon for a rest before dinner and overnight. | Day 3 | Visit the city of Amman, including the Roman Amphitheater, Citadel and its archaeological museum, and gold bazaar in the heart of downtown. After lunch, descend to the Jordan valley and Dead Sea for a swim and an evening barbecue on the seashore. | Day 4 | Travel along the King's Highway to Petra, visiting Madaba, Mt. Nebo and the Crusader castle of Kerak en route, including lunch at Kerak castle's terrace. Arrive Petra in time for dinner and overnight. | Day 5 | Spend a full day exploring the fabulous rock-carved remains of Petra, with an evening meal served Bedouin-style inside an ancient tomb or cave dwelling, overnight at your Petra hotel. | Day 6 | Drive to Wadi Rum and transfer by 4x4 vehicles to explore this beautiful desert landscape. Continue to reach Aqaba in mid-afternoon in time for a swim in the Red Sea, then a beachfront barbecue, dinner and overnight. | Day 7 | Spend the day at Aqaba sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, or enjoying its many watersports, visiting its medieval castle, or taking a boat day trip to the crusaders fortress on Pharaoh's island. | Day 8 | Return to Queen Alia International Airport by plane, to connect with your flight home. |
