Spend time in Singapore, staying at the Raffles the Plaza Hotel before flying direct to Siem Reap, gateway to the majestic temples of Angkor. For 3 nights stay in the opulent Raffles Grand d'Angkor Hotel, your base for exploring the temples. Finally another night in Singapore at the legendary Raffles Hotel, part of the history of the city, before returning home. |
Day 1 | Depart London Heathrow* on Singapore Airlines non-stop flight to Singapore. | Day 2 | Arrive Singapore and transfer to Raffles The Plaza for 2 nights (Premier Deluxe) on room only basis. | Day 3 | At leisure in Singapore. In Singapore generations of tradition from different races and religions have combined in a myriad of sound, colour and scents. There is so much to see and do including Chinatown, Little India, shopping along Orchard Road, and the entertainment of Clarke Quay and Boat Quay along the river. | Day 4 | Fly Silk Air, sister to Singapore Airlines, direct to Siem Reap, the Gateway to the temples of Angkor. Transfer to Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor for 3 nights including breakfast. Rest of day sightseeing at the Temples. | Day 5 | Sightseeing at Angkor. The majestic temples of Angkor (World Heritage), in north-west Cambodia belong to the classic period of Khmer art and civilisation. The ruins contain more than 100 monuments, including two dozen major temples. The main 'must-sees' are:
Bayon, a large sandstone temple unique for its 54 towers each decorated with 4 large enigmatic smiling faces.
Ta Prohm, probably the most spectacular looking. Located in the middle of the jungle, it has been left in the same state as when it was discovered, with the roots of the trees intertwined over and around the ruins of the temple walls.
And Angkor Wat, the grandest, and most famous of them all. The complex stretches a mile from east to west, rising up three levels and topped by five distinctive towers. The walls are adorned with extraordinary bas reliefs depicting myths and events from Khmer history. | Day 6 | Sightseeing at Angkor Wat. | Day 7 | In the morning return to Singapore and the legendary Raffles Hotel for 1 night (Courtyard Suite) on a room only basis. The hotel has been part of the history of the city since its establishment in 1887. It is surrounded by beautifully kept gardens, an oasis amidst the bustle of the city. | Day 8 | Depart on Singapore Airlines scheduled non-stop flight to London Heathrow*, arriving same day. |
